Assam Institute of Management is a premier Management Institute in the north eastern part of India. Located at Bigyan Path in the West Boragaon area of Guwahati city of Assam, the Institute boasts of having a sprawling campus with a total area of 15 bighas of land. AIM is in the midst of lush and soothing greenery with hill over the horizon. It is a place which provides an environment to mould everyone to be a good human being who can discover oneself, be intuitive, and be a change agent in the society and further help in the nation building process. The vision for AIM is to develop appropriate human capital infrastructure to meet the growing developmental needs of the strategically located and resource-rich north eastern region of India.
The Institute started functioning from its new and permanent campus from 1st of January, 2015. The building of the entire planned infrastructure of the Institute is still under progress and Public Works Department (PWD), Govt. of Assam is entrusted with this ardent task. It is a joint project of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and Government of Assam with the major funding being provided by DONER.
AIM believes that true knowledge is manifested in its practical application in the form of wisdom. That is why the uniqueness of the management programme of AIM lies in its practicability. The logo is represented with block letters of AIM and underneath is written ”Prayoge Safala Vidya” in Devanagri Script. At AIM one is being constantly reminded of ”Prayoge Safala Vidya”, which implies that learning becomes fruitful only when it is practical applied. In fact, prosperity in life is possible through theory and practice. In order to make this holistic view a reality, the Institute has air-conditioned classrooms with state of art modern technology that provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions while conducting knowledge imparting sessions. There is a well stocked library at the campus which stocks books, periodicals, national and international journals, including e-journals covering all aspects of academic and research. The infrastructure at AIM provide an ideal training environment for budding professionals that allow students to experiment and bring to practice what they have learnt in theory. Besides, the Institute has a seminar cum yoga hall, a canteen and a fully air conditioned Computer Laboratory with the entire campus being WiFi enabled. Separate hostel for male and female PGDM participants, Director’s Bunglow and residential quarters for faculty and staff members of the Institute is under construction.
