Shri Pratul Ch. Kalita has done
Production Engineering from NIT-Jamshedpur followed
by a masters degree in Marketing Management from pondicherry
university. At present he is doing his Ph.D from Indian
Institute of Technology, Guwahati in the department
of Design.He started his profession career from Jamshedpuir
Metal Treat Limited as a graduate engineer trainee
and his areas of operations were: Implementation of
QS9000/ISO9000 Standards, In process quality control,
Implementation of statistical techniques in the shop
floor, Conducting internal quality audits.
He joined British Oxygen Company
( India) Limited in may 1997 and worked till April
2001 as project engineer. His areas of operations
were pipeline fabrication and erection, Technical
and commercial evaluation of proposals, finalization
of purchase orders, Material control ( SAP R3: MM
Module). The following are the major turn key projects
where he was actively involved:
" 1290 TPD Oxygen Generation
plant for Tata Steel Jamshedpur
" 2 X 24NM3 Hydrogen Generation Plant for West
Bengal Power Development Corporation, Bakreswar-WB
He is one of the founder members
of Acumen Soft Technologies- Kolkata and his key areas
were System Analysis & Design, Business development
and Corporate strategy.Today Acumen soft Technologies
is going strong in the path of success.
Shri Kalita is associated with AIM
since June 2004 and his areas are Information Technology
(System Analysis and Design, MIS, ERP, E- Commerce),
Quantitative Methods, Operations Research, Marketing
Research, Product Design & Design Management.
He is a visiting faculty of Indian
Institute of Entrepreneurship, Gauhati University,
and Central Board of Workers Empowerment.
He is the Dy. Coordinator of IIPC-
AIM ( Industry Institute Partnership Cell) of the
institute. Shri Kalita is also the Institute Coordinator
of NEPIF ( North East Professional Institute Forum,
www.nepif.weblet.in).
Shri Kalita has presented a research
paper entitled "Identification of Design strategy
for cookware products in Indian multi cultural context"
in the Seventh International Symposium of Tools and
Methods of Competitive Engineering (TMCE
2008) held in Izmir, Turkey on April 21-25, 2008.
He has also presented a research
paper titled "Integrated design of Dipbahan-
the eco- friendly tricycle rickshaw and its allied
services." co-authored with A.K. Das Associate
Professor, Department of Design, IIT Guwahati at the
IX Annual International Conference of the Society
of Operations Management in December 2005
