AIM Invites application for ONGC Chair in Management at the institute. Applications are invited from interested Academician in the field of Management who have to teach Minimum number of classes, carry out Research, do Management Development Programmes and Consultancy. The minimum duration of the chair will be 3 years.

About ONGC Chair
Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited, one of the largest Central Public Sector Undertaking, has endowed a Chair in Management at the Assam Institute of Management. Initially limited for a three year period, ONGC has already released the first installment of the endowment recently.

According to ONGC, the purpose behind installing the chair is to "support and enhance the quality of Management education and Research in the North East Region". The area of work of the Chair would basically cover teaching the latest concepts in management, offering management development programmes and to initiate and guide research in relevant management topics pertaining to the NE region.

ONGC has signed a Memorandum with the Assam Institute of Management in this regard. It may be mentioned that ONGC had earlier endowed a Chair at the Assam Institute of management in the early nineteen nineties for a five year period. Prof. Nikhil Barat, doyen of management education in India and one of the founding Professors of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, occupied the Chair at AIM and did considerable work that helped the institute at its formative years.

Job Content
Teaching loads: The Incumbent ONGC Chair Professor (Henceforth, referred as the Chair) shall be required to take at least two regular papers each for both the 1st & 2nd Year PGDBM Courses.

Research: The Chair will select a Research topic at the time of acceptance of the Chair which should have some direct or indirect relevance to ONGC. Chair will carryout extensive Research in that area which should be of international standard and in line with contemporary trends and thoughts. At the end of each year, the Chair must deliver a lecture connected to the topic of the Chair's research. The venue and date of the lecture will be decided by ONGC.

Case Studies: The Chair will develop 2 Case Studies every year, that may be based on ONGC's operations and activities, alongwith teaching notes and support documents.

Management Development Programme: The Chair will conduct Management Development Programme for ONGC officials, three times in a year of minimum 2 days duration each. The programme will be held in ONGC's operational areas.

Guidance: The Chair will guide AIM faculty in their individual works, teaching, research and consultancy work, in addition to his/her own work. Chair will also help the AIM Director in his work and use his contacts, reputation and linkages to further development of AIM.

Any Other Matter: In any other matters, the Chair will be guided by the contents of the MOU signed between AIM & ONGC and the decisions of the Institute Director

Eligibility
The person to be selected should be at least 45 years of age, preferably an MBA with a PhD in Management, who have -

i) At least 20 years of Teaching, Research and Consultancy experience in a Management institute/ Department ( approved by AICTE) and who is present serving at least at an Associate Professor level for last three years.

OR

ii) At least 20 years of Corporate experience at important decision making level and having a flair for academics.

Salary : Rs. 50,000 per month (Consolidated)
Others : Free accommodation

As per the MOU with ONGC, the Selection of the Chair should be by a Committee in which ONGC should be involved. The same committee will also work as a Review Committee to review the work of the chair every year. It is proposed to have the same Committee for selection and Review.

Members:
ONGC Nominee (to be Head of ONGC Academy at Dehradun or his/her nominee).
Additional Chief Secretary/Commissioner, in charge of P&D Department, Govt. of Assam.
Nominee of Director, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Secretary: Director, Assam Institute of Management, Guwahati.
