14th Convocation of AIM
The 29th of April 2009 was a
momentous day for the Assam Institute of Management as the
Institute added another batch of sixty one young, talented
and dynamic management graduates to the existing list of
endowed alumni. It was the 14th Convocation of the Institute
to confer the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management
(PGDBM) at the Pandit Tirthanath Sharma Memorial Sabhaghar,
at Old University Colony, Guwahati. Shri Bhaskar Barua IAS
(Retd), the Founder Chairman of the Institute was the Chief
Guest and Shri H.M.Cairae, the Principal Secretary to the
Government of Assam presided over the convocation. Shri
Shantikam Hazarika, Director AIM, welcomed the
gathering and expressed his gratitude towards the faculty
members and the parents for their contribution and unending
support. He stated that AIM has maintained its strides as
one of the premier B-school in India by imbibing its students
with all the management acumen that would help them to lock
horns with the complexities of the corporate world. He communicated
that the placement of Assam Institute of Management is getting
mileage with the transition of time and the institute is
witnessing more and more companies coming for placement.

The Diploma certificates were
distributed to the graduates by the Chief Guest. They were
then given "Dikshanopadesha" from the Upanishads
by Acharya Krishnakant Puranik, Principal, Asom Ved Vidyalaya.
The graduating students then took an oath to aver their
loyalty to their country, their profession and their conscience
and to uphold the values embodied by the Institute in them.
Shri Bhaskar Barua then awarded the Gold Medals to Mr..Rahul
D.Saikia for outstanding academic performance, Mr. Neelkanth
Shastri for being adjuged the Best Student Manager, Mr.
Shahank Sharma for the Best Grand Project.
As a whole the entire programme went on smoothly and was
a grand success. Every one present there especially the
parents were in a high spirit to see their wards coming
out with flying colours.
We wish the outgoing batch all the very best in life and
hope that their two years in AIM would be the most important
value addition in their lives. May God be always with them.
