Accomodation  |  Activities  |  A Day Journey
The Feel
  Accomodation :-
As the Institute is located at the heart of the Guwahati city, therefore the institute management has tied up with private hostels near to the institute premises where the accommodation (including fooding) for the outstation students is provided for both girls and boys.

  Activities :-
The AIM believes that it is the responsibility of the institute to develop its students as managers right on the campus while they are still students. The Institute considers the students as active partners in managing the institute and its activities such as conferences, training programmes, guest lectures, seminars, placement etc. and ensures that they play an active role in the life of the institute rather than passive recipients.

Basically students are encouraged to plan and organize co-curricular and extra curricular activities on their own with basic support from the institute. Students undertake such activities not merely for the learning value that they provide but also for the satisfaction that comes with the experience of a job well done. The students recognize their talents and skills in the process and are inspired to apply them.
Some of the student action groups actively involved in such activities are:

CULTURAL COMMITTEE :- This committee organizes all the social and cultural activities of the institute.

SPORTS COMMITTEE :- This committee organizes all the sports activities of the institute.

FESTIVAL COMMITTEE :- This committee organizes pujas like SARASWATI PUJA in the institute.

AIM PULSE MAGAZINE :- This committee looks after the magazine stated to bring & encourage the hidden talents of the students.

AIM PULSE WALL MAGAZINE COMMITTEE :- This committee looks after the weekly wall magazine of the institute.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT COMMITTEE :- This committee organizes industrial visits under the guidance of Director so that the students can get a more practical approach than just classroom learning.

AIM-QUEST THE ONLY B-SCHOOL MEET OF NORTH EAST :- AIM have the credit of organizing AIM-QUEST. The only B-School Meet of North-East, which provides a platform to show the world the talents & skills of the future budding managers. It is highly appreciated by the Corporate World as well as the Academic Institutions.

PLACEMENT GROUP :- It's a group of 2nd year students who are actively involved in the placement cell of AIM. They are responsible for bringing out the placement brochure and to interact with various reputed organizations of your kind so as to attract them and to inform about the quality of Human Resource produced by AIM. They are also responsible for arranging meetings and other facilities for the organizations to visit the institute and for recruitments.

  A Day Journey:-

9:05 AM

Sunshine!!Sunshine!!!Its just 9:05 AM, and I am 10 minutes early. Prof. Mukulesh Barua is waiting outside the class room with all his slides containing the concepts of " Manufacturing Facilities, Location and Layout" & the related complex matrices…..

What's happening in our senior's classroom? Well, a documentary film titled " Global Warning" highlighting the issues of Global Warming will be shown to them in the class of REEM ( Resource, Energy & Environment Management). But please don't be in the delusion that our seniors are lucky as they will be enjoying a film while we are burning fuel on the labyrinthine problems of POM (Production and Operations Management). Take my opinion, they will have relatively tough time, Because this is director sir's session, and there will be so many cross firings of words and sentences that at certain moment of time they will feel that some of the cells of their brain have certainly become agile & active.

11:45 AM

The case that Prof. N.N. Sarma has discussed in his class of Marketing Management has certainly explained some of the critical theories of Philip Kotler. It is amazing to see how those are related to the Indian context of Marketing management.

Now hurry up. The next session will start at 12:15, i.e we are having only 30 minutes break. Wind up the tea session ASAP and rush to Prof G.K Sarma to submit the assignments of Organizational Behaviour that we had been doing since last one week.

A gentle knock on the computer lab's door…Need to download some data from NSE/BSE Websites…Prof Sanjib Raj's assignment on Financial Management!!. Oh I need to see some more websites to know more about current trends of Rural Marketing otherwise I will not be able to participate in Prof. Manesh Choubey's class on Rural Marketing.

1:30 PM

We have just finished the session on decomposition of data flow diagram. The next session will be on logic modeling, E- Commerce etc. While dealing with complex business situations with operation research techniques like Linear Programming, Decision Theory, we are also mentally prepared to take on the project of Marketing Research by Pratul Ch. Kalita .

Now get ready for the WAC( Written Analysis and Communication) session. My power point slides are ready and I will have to present it with absolute zero errors.

2:45 PM

Rush to the library. Have a quick look on the notice board on the way….quiz, seminar paper invitation….summer placement notice…faculty allocation for grand project…special lecture by faculty of IIM-A… Marks of mid term…sports meet…yoga classes…

Peep inside the seniors class room. They are having some hot discussion on the forthcoming seminar on Child Labour…Now I should move to the computer lab…So many things are to be downloaded from the internet.

4:00 PM

Pack up. Reach the room at the earliest. If possible try to have a nap for at least one hour. Before it is 12:00 at night I must finish the case studies those are to be discussed tomorrow.

12:30 PM

Time to sleep? Perhaps yes…another busy day is waiting for us. We used to believe that there is a day between two nights, but now we have understood that there is only one night between two days!!
