===========================================================
Admissions to the AIM are through a three-tier
selection process comprising of a written test, group discussion
and personal interview. The Government of India has determined
that admissions to professional institutes should be held
on the basis of merit to be determined through a Common
Entrance test, conducted nationally. Assam Institute of
Management has determined that it would accept the Common
Entrance Test conducted by the Association of Indian Management
Schools (AIMS) called ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions).
The test is held in different centers of India in the month
of February. Therefore, students who are desirous of enrolling
in the AIM PGDBM course must appear in the ATMA. The ATMA
test is announced in the national and local press. In addition,
applicants will also have to apply to AIM by filling up
a separate Application Form to be downloaded from the AIM
website.
On the basis of the marks scored in ATMA and the information
provided in the AIM Application Form, shortlisted candidates
would be called for Group Discussions and Interview at Guwahati
for final selection.
Those who are interested to be considered for being admitted
to the PGDBM programme at the AIM must first of all, check
their eligibility. If they are eligible, they should take
the following steps:
Step ONE: Fill up the ATMA form On-Line.
Step TWO: Fill up the AIM application form.
Step ONE: ATMA admission kit can be obtained from
Assam Institute of Management office by paying in cash Rs.900/-
or by sending a D/D of Rs.950/- drawn in favour of "Assam
Institute of Management" payable at Guwahati. The request
letter for ATMA kit along with the DD should be sent to
Assam Institute of Management, 7th Floor, East Point Tower,
Bamunimaidam.
The ATMA admission kit contains the following:-
1) Bulletin with information about ATMA.
2) An envelop in which there will be an adhesive sticker
with Personal ID code printed on it.
On purchase of ATMA admission kit, the candidates will
be given a receipt by the sales centre. The same is required
to be submitted to the invigilator at the time of examination
along with the admit card.
Inside the ATMA admission kit, there will be an envelop
in which there will be an adhesive sticker with Personal
ID code printed on it. For applying online, candidates should
log on to ATMA website www.atma-aims.org.
Candidates should key in Personal ID code to have access
to fill up online application form. Candidates are also
required to download their admit cards from the ATMA website
www.atma-aims.org by entering Personal ID code and Date
of Birth.
Candidates must report to the test venue with Admit Card,
Signed passport sized photographs affixed to it, and ATMA
kit receipt at least half-an-hour before commencement of
the test. Candidates must read the ATMA bulletin in details.
Step TWO: AIM Admission Form can be downloaded from
the AIM website www.aimguwahati.edu.in and after filling
the same, should be sent to AIM at Guwahati. The Application
Form should be accompanied by a D/D of Rs.600.00 (Rupees
six hundred only) drawn in favour of the Assam Institute
of Management, payable at Guwahati. Please read the instructions
clearly in the Application Form. Please note that you are
required to send copies of your mark-sheets along with the
Application Form. However, copies of certificates and testimonials
along with the originals would also be required at the time
of GD and interview. Candidates must download and read the
AIM Prospectus in details.
Exemption from Written Test: Building upon its tradition
of sensitivity and responsiveness, AIM has made it less
burdensome for applicants by pioneering the process of accepting
the results of the following examinations in lieu of ATMA.
Such students need NOT appear in the written test and would
be considered for GD and interview directly if they fulfill
the eligibility conditions mentioned:
a. AIM would automatically call for GD/Interview (without
the need to appear in ATMA) applicants who have been called
for final selection in any of the seven IIMs, on the basis
of their CAT scores.
b. Applicants who may have appeared in GMAT/GRE towards
the second half of 2008 and have scored reasonably well,
are exempted from written test. They have to produce scores
along with Application Form.
c. Applicants who have appeared in GATE/CSIR/ICSSRI/ICAR
fellowship examinations-proof of qualification to be provided.
d. UGC-JRF/NET tests-proof of clearing to be provided.
e. Any written test conducted by UPSC on all India basis
where the minimum qualification requirement is graduation,
i.e. CDS, Civil Service Preliminary Examinations etc. Proof
of clearing the examination required.
f. Any written test conducted by any Central Public Sector
Undertaking on all India basis for selection of graduates
as Officer Trainees. Call letter for final selection to
be provided.
g. Serving or retired officers of the Armed Forces and Paramilitary
Forces.
NOTE: Applicants, who want to take advantage of
the above scheme of SEEKING EXEMPTION FROM WRITTEN EXAMINATION,
should produce proof of the examinations they have appeared,
like GMAT/ GRE etc. along with their application. Wherever
such scores are not available, e.g. CAT, CDS examination,
candidates should be able to provide proof of their clearing
the examinations by submitting copies of call letters for
the next stage of selection. It is, however, clarified that
AIM reserves the right to make its own judgment in evaluating
such applicants for calling them directly for Group Discussion
(GD) and the Final Interview. Mere clearance of the above
mentioned tests or being called for subsequent selection
process would not automatically render applicants eligible
for group discussions and interview. Also, such applicants
must fulfill the eligibility criteria in their graduation/post
graduation
FOR DEFENCE/PARAMILITARY PERSONNEL: Released Short Service/discharged
Commissioned (SSC) Officers or Serving Officers of the Defence
Services and Paramilitary Forces of the Government of India
would be directly considered for short listing for GD/Interview.
They would be exempted from appearing in the written tests.
NRI SPONSORED/FOREIGN STUDENTS: AIM reserves maximum three
seats for foreign students or students who are sponsored
by an NRI. Such students must fill up the Institute Application
Form and clearly specify that they are applying under this
category. However, they shall have to appear in the ATMA.
Weightage in selection process:
Academic Performance: 50%
ATMA Score: 10%
Group Discussion: 10%
Personal Interview: 30%
