Training Programme for Tourist Information Officers of Arunachal Pradesh

A four week training programme for Tourist Information Officers of Arunachal Pradesh was held at the institute from 7th May to 2nd June. Mrs. Jahnabi Phukan, Managing director, Jungle Travels was the chief guest in the inaugural function. Altogether eight Tourist Information Officers participated in the programme. A wide range of topics of management related to tourism industry were discussed in the programme. The topics include Marketing Management, Customer Relationship Management, Basics of accountancy, Cost concepts & Cost control, Personnel Management, Tourism concepts and Impacts, Management of Tour Packages, Promotion of Event Management, Personality and communication development, and Information Technology in tourism etc.

Management Development Progarmme for Accounts officers of ASEB

A Management Development Progarmme for Accounts officers of Assam State Electricity Board was organized in the institute from 4th May 2007 to 15th May 2007. Altogether 78 participants participated the programme in two batches. The resource persons discussed various topics relevant to the job responsibilities of the participants. The areas include Customer orientation and services management, Electricity regulation and Tariff, Role of Management in public system, Cost audit, behavioral Science etc.

Management Development Programme on Project Management

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell of the institute organized a two days management development programme on project management on 4th and 5th February 2008 at the institute. The participants of the programme were from various organizations viz. Dr.B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Assam Industrial Development Corporation, Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Software Technology Parks of India,Guwahati, Assam Air Products Pvt. Limited and Assam State Electricity Board. The MDP covered general concepts of project planning, execution and monitoring, tools and techniques. A brief overview of Microsoft Project was also given to the participants along with demonstration of the software.

Training Workshop on Customer Focus for Non Marketing Executives

A two days workshop on customer focus for non marketing executives was organized on 15th and 16th February 2008. The workshop received participation from organization such as Assam Air Products Pvt. Ltd, Mech Technik ( I) Pvt. Ltd and Software Technology Parks of India,Guwahati. The programme focused on the need of understanding the role of marketing in the current competitive environment. Some of the major issues discussed in the workshop were the techniques for strengthening the internal chain, quality, relationship marketing and developing service orientation.

Trainers Training Programme for service providers in Arunachal Pradesh

A three days training programme on training and development was conducted from 5th March to 7th March 2008 at Intanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. About 30 participants from various government departments and colleges attended the programme. The sessions were on various aspects of general management and skill development.

Training Programme for Police Officers

The Assam Institute of Management is providing a need based training programme to 140 newly recruited police officers of Assam Police at Police Training Centre, Dergaon. The programme is being undertaken in two phases. The first phase was held on 3-4 June 2008 where focus was on topics like the role of police in nation building, social responsibility of police, principles of management etc. The second phase was held on 2-4 July 2008. In the second phase the resource persons covered sessions on communication skill and conflict management, time-stress management and various behavioral skills.

  The feedbacks received from the participants indicated that the programmes were found to be very effective and useful. Many state government officials have subsequently sought our help in fine-tuning their project proposals for the ministry of DoNER
