Inauguration
of the 15th Batch, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management
(PGDBM) |

The 15th batch of the Post Graduate
Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) of the institute
was formally inaugurated by the Additional Chief Secretary
to the Government of Assam, Mr. Alok Perti, IAS, on July
7, 2008 amongst a host of prominent dignitaries and officials.
Shri Jatin Hazarika, IAS(Retd.) presided over the function
Dr. Joyanti Chutia, Director, Institute
of Advanced Study in Science & Technology, Guwahati,
Assam delivered the inaugural lecture "Future Clean
Energy" to mark the commencement of the new academic
calendar.

Altogether 70 students were selected
for PGDBM 2008-10 programme. The selected candidates are
from diversified academic backgrounds viz. science, arts,
commerce, engineering and agriculture.
A large number of aspirants applied
for admissions, out of which only 212 candidates were called
for group discussion and interview on the basis of their
past academic performance, and ATMA score. The weightage
in various attributes considered for selection process were
as follows: For academic performance 50%, for ATMA Score
10%, for group discussion 10% and for personal interview
it was 30%
This year, the whole process of
admission, right from distribution of application form and
prospectus, admit cards till announcement of results was
done online though institute's website (www.aimguwahati.edu.in).
This e-mode has helped the institute reaching to a larger
number of deserving candidates crossing the geographic boundaries.
The process has proven to be completely error free.
